Ovaltine mixed with milk supplies essential vitamin, proteins and minerals is good for growth and robust health of children.
Ovaltine was introduced by Swiss physician George Wander marketed in Europe in 1904 as Ovomaltine.
Wander was experimenting with barley malt as a nutritional supplement when it dawned on him to combine the complex carbohydrate-rich barley with milk, eggs and finally cocoa flavoring, to make the mixture more palatable to children.
The product name was allegedly changed to ‘Ovaltine’ due to a clerical error during the trademark registration when exporting it to Britain in 1909.
Ovaltine is thought of as a health drink in the United States, in Britain it is considered a nightmare comforter, while in Thailand it can be bought on draft like beer.
