Health benefits of apricot juice

Apricot juice is rich nutritional content in sugars (over 60%), protein (8%), crude fiber (11.50%), crude fat (2%), minerals (4%), vitamins (vitamins A, C, K, and B complex), and organic acids in appropriate amounts.

The phenolic components in apricots, i.e. chlorogenic acid, β-carotene and lycopene, prevent oxidation of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and thus improve the antioxidant status of the body.

Apricots and apricot juice are rich in antioxidants such as vitamins A, E and C and can help prevent oxidative stress in body tissues caused by free radicals. Apricots also contain flavonoids that protect and strengthen blood vessels while reducing inflammation.

The potassium found in apricots is an important mineral for nerve and muscle function, and is also critical for transporting nutrients around the body.

Soluble fiber lowers LDL cholesterol levels by binding bile acids or cholesterol during intraluminal micelle formation, thereby reducing cholesterol content in liver cells and increasing LDL cholesterol excretion.

Apricots contain pectin and cellulose, which act as mild laxatives and treat constipation. Their juice flushes unwanted waste from the digestive tract and helps the body’s digestive juices create an alkaline environment.

Apricots contain a significant amount of calcium, which helps improve bone health and prevent age-related osteoporosis. Women in particular should consume apricot juice regularly as they are more prone to bone loss.
