Raspberry leaf tea

Raspberry leaf tea is one of the most common tonics used by pregnant women.

The roots, leaves, and berries have long been appreciated for their nutritive value. Native Americans gave raspberry leaves to women and animals during birth to strengthen and speed delivery.

Raspberry leaf also known as red raspberry is derived from the plant Rubus idaeus or Rubus strigosus.

Raspberry leaf tea is rich in nutrients, including calcium, iron, B vitamins, manganese and magnesium. The tea is flavorful and is a delicious alternative for pregnant women who are missing black tea, as the flavor of raspberry leaf tea is reminiscent of a caffeinated tea and it goes quite well with milk and honey.

The principal from the leaves are tannins and flavonoids. Raspberry leaf tea has been used for diarrhea and as mouthwash because of its astringent properties.
