American bock

Bock beers are German in origin, having first been brewed in the northern German city of Einbeck sometime during the 14th century. The name Bock actually comes from a corruption of the name Einbeck that the beer style was labeled with when it migrated to Munich during the 17th century.

Bock is a strong bottom fermented beer, whose colour can be either pale or dark. Bock beers are usually lagered for months in very cold conditions, to achieve a strong individual flavour, and also tend to have a relatively low attenuation limit, resulting in a sweet taste.

In the United States, bock beer used to be synonymous with any dark beer. These beer, sometimes brewed to their own recipes and sometimes merely colored version of their brewery’s regular beer.

American Bock is a lighter twist on the bock style, lighter in body than a traditional bock, but not a light beer by far. This beer exhibits a rich amber color with a full malty flavor and a hint of traditional German hop flavor. American Bock is made with a trio of malts for a harvest-rich taste and deep color. The strong malt characteristics are balanced by a light hop flavor and moderate aroma.
