Technically, any liquid intended for drinking is a beverage so named by a word derived from French and Latin verbs meaning ‘to drink.’ Healthy beverages are beverages with health benefits that attribute by its nutritional value. The use of healthy beverage for promoting health and relieving symptom is as old as the practice of medicine.

Juice of sugar cane

Sugar cane juice should be consumed in raw and fresh form. It consists of sucrose, 20%, invert sugar 0 – 2%, fiber 8 to 16% and water 75%,

Cane juice is an aqueous solution circulating in the living plant and carrying materials required for growth and metabolism.

It distinguish itself from other plant juices or saps by its characteristically high content of sucrose.

Its juice quenches thirst, is tonic and rejuvenator and nutritious drink during summer months, protects body from heat and also from bad effects of heat and sun stroke.

The cane juice is acidic (pH 5.0-5.4) and in addition to sugars, contains minerals (0.4-0.7%) and vitamins. The vitamins present are thiamine, 53; riboflavin 31; niacin, 49; pantothenic acid 2180; biotin 22; and vitamin Dm 176 ug/100g.

Sugar cane juice has many medicinal properties. It strengthens the stomach, kidney, heart, eyes, brain and sex organs.

Commercially sugar cane is utilized for processing glucose of which its juice is main ingredient.
