Stimulator beverage

Stimulator beverages are unique because they attempt to imply that the beverages provide ‘energy’ as a nutrient (carbohydrate), when in fact they are providing stimulants for alertness.

Caffeine and taurine are the primary active ingredients in the beverage. Some stimulator beverages include guarana, which is a natural source of caffeine.

Guarana was initially made into beverage by the Maue Indians in the Amazon Basin as a daily tonic and stimulant, much like coffee. In fact, 100 mg of guarana is approximately equivalent to the caffeine in one cup of black coffee.

The caffeine levels found in stimulator beverages usually consist of higher-than-usual levels of caffeine along with other compound stimulants than the level found in colas and other carbonated soft drinks.
